Rules & privacy
How it works
- A new challenge opens every day at 06:00 and closes at 18:00 (Kenyan time), unless the challenge says otherwise.
- Each video costs KES 30, paid by M-Pesa. A child can send up to 3 videos per day; only their best one counts.
- Videos can be up to 60 seconds long. Quality beats length.
- Only the registered child may appear playing in the video. No editing, music or filters.
- Children compete in their age group on the day of the challenge: Under 9, 9 – 12, 13 – 17 . Boys and girls compete separately.
- For each video, tell us which ball is used: Locally made ball or Leather / professional ball. Judges take the ball into account when scoring.
Judging
Pepeta is a competition of skill, not a draw. Judges score every valid video out of 10 for ball control, difficulty and creativity, without seeing the child's name or school. In each category, the highest average scores take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; each child can only take one place. A tie goes to the entry paid for first. The judges' decision is final.
Videos that break the rules (wrong child, more than one player, edited or unsafe content) are rejected and do not take part in judging.
Prizes
Every day, the top players in every category win prizes, which can include cash, footballs and school bags. Each day's prizes are shown on the challenge. Winners are announced by SMS on the evening of the challenge, and we call the parent's phone number to arrange the prize.
Children's privacy
- A parent or guardian must register the child and give consent before any video is recorded.
- Videos are private. Only our judges can watch them.
- Winning videos are shown on the Pepeta winners page with the child's first name and county only. We never publish surnames, schools or phone numbers.
- Videos that do not win are deleted 7 days after the challenge.
- To have your child's details or a winning video removed, call 0800723000.
